Location: Singapore Botanic Gardens
Start time: 10am
Total no. of species recorded: 7
List of Species recorded (in no order): Red Junglefowl, Pink-neck Green-Pigeon, White-breasted Waterhen, Collared Scops-Owl, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Orange-headed Thrush, Oriental Magpie Robin
Overview:
The 2nd birding adventure of the year took place at Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) after an unsuccessful attempt of waking up at 6am for breakfast beforehand. It was also my first birding outing with Pop this year, so I chose a location with flatter terrain rather than areas with steeper pathways such as Dairy Farm or Bukit Timah Hill Summit.
Due to a shorter duration of this birding session, the number of species recorded was significantly lower than my previous visit to Chinese Gardens/ Jurong Lake Gardens where 23 species were recorded.
We arrived at Botanic Gardens MRT station and headed directly to Rainforest Trail where the Orange-headed Thrush was sighted previously. On hindsight, Napier MRT station would have been nearer.
Observation conditions:
Sightings were made in the morning, approx. 10am, under sunny conditions. Bird activity was noticeably lower, likely due to increased human traffic.
